English tutoring

English Language and English Literature are two subjects. Most students are only weak at one of them.

IGCSE English Language and English Literature, AS and A-Level English, IB English A and English B, English Language Arts and AP English, Canadian Grade 9 to 12 English and SABIS English. Mentors who sat the same papers a few years ago, teaching online across the UAE or at your home in the two cities.

Why it works

What makes the difference

  • 01

A good essay in the wrong shape scores badly

English mark schemes are structural. They pay for a clear line of argument, for evidence placed where it does work, and for analysis of how a writer achieves an effect rather than what happens in the text. A student can write fluently and still miss all of that, and it is fixable in a term.

  • 02

Unseen material is a technique, not a talent

The paper a student fears most is the one with a passage nobody has taught them. It is also the most teachable, because the approach is the same every time: what is the writer doing, how, and to what effect. Repeated practice on unseen texts moves that mark reliably.

  • 03

Second-language English is a different problem

A child who reads well but writes in the rhythm of another language needs work on sentence structure and register, not on more reading. We say which of the two we think it is after the first lessons, honestly, rather than selling a generic English course.

Inside the subject

The four kinds of English exam a UAE student meets

English Language

Reading comprehension, summary, directed writing and the descriptive and narrative tasks. The marks go to control of structure and register, which is why a student who reads widely can still score in the middle.

School English and test English are related but they are not the same, and a student can be strong at one and weak at the other. We teach both, and we say which one a child actually needs.

How it works

From first message to a first English lesson in days

  1. 01

    Tell us the course

The syllabus and the board are enough: IGCSE First Language English, A-Level English Literature, IB English B SL, AP English or a SABIS Level. Two minutes on WhatsApp or the contact form.

  2. 02

    Meet your mentor

The mentor we pick sat the same course and scored highly in it. We then arrange the first lesson, at your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi or online.

  3. 03

    Watch the writing tighten

The timetable bends around school and mock weeks. Parents get a written progress note after every lesson, and switching mentor is free if the match is not right.

FAQ

English tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, answered

  • 01

How much does an English tutor cost?

The school level decides the rate, not the subject. Primary is AED 140 an hour on Commitment and AED 160 on Flexible, middle school AED 160 or AED 180, high school AED 180 or AED 200. VAT at 5% is inside each figure, and a lesson at home adds AED 30. The pricing page carries the full table.

  • 02

Which English courses do you cover?

IGCSE English Language and English Literature, AS and A-Level English, IB English A and English B, English Language Arts and AP English, Canadian Grade 9 to 12 English and SABIS English at every Level. All of them are named on our services page.

  • 03

Is English tutoring the same as IELTS or TOEFL preparation?

No, and confusing the two wastes months. School English is examined on literature, argument and extended writing. IELTS and TOEFL are timed tests of four skills against a band or score target, with their own formats. If your child needs a band for a university application, start on the IELTS or TOEFL page instead.

  • 04

My child speaks English fluently but writes badly. Can that be fixed?

Usually yes, and faster than parents expect, because it is almost always a structural problem rather than a vocabulary one. Sentence control, paragraph shape and knowing what an examiner rewards are all teachable. A mentor will read a piece of your child's real school work in the first lesson and tell you what they see.

  • 05

Do you help with coursework and the IB extended writing?

Yes, with planning, structure, feedback and redrafting, worked backwards from the deadline so drafting never collides with the exam season. Mentors coach the student's own writing; they do not write or edit work that will be submitted as the student's own.

  • 06

Are lessons online or in person?

Both. Mentors visit homes in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and teach online everywhere else in the UAE. Essay work suits the screen particularly well, because the draft is in front of both of you at once.
