What makes the difference

    Moles are the gate, and most students never get through it

    Titrations, percentage yields, gas volumes, concentrations: almost every calculation on a chemistry paper is a mole calculation wearing a different hat, and limiting reagent questions catch strong students too. A child who is unsure here loses marks across the whole paper and cannot see where they went. Mentors treat it as one skill and drill it until it is automatic.

    The conventions are marked as hard as the chemistry

    An answer can be right and still lose the marks: working not set out, a unit missing, a state symbol left off, the wrong number of significant figures, an equation that does not balance. Chemistry marks precision, not intention. That gap closes by writing answers under a mark scheme, not by re-reading notes.

    A curly arrow has to start and finish in the right place

    In organic chemistry the mechanism marks go to arrows that begin at a named lone pair or bond and end exactly where the examiner expects. An arrow drawn from roughly the right region earns nothing. Students who learned reactions as flashcards run out of memory in the second year; students taught what an arrow means can work out a molecule they have never met.

Physical chemistry

Moles and stoichiometry, energetics, rates, equilibrium and electrochemistry. This is the calculating half of the subject and it decides most grades, because a method mark goes as easily for a dropped unit as for a wrong number.

    How much does a chemistry tutor cost?

    Price follows the school level and never the subject, so chemistry is not charged as a hard science. High school is AED 180 an hour on Commitment and AED 200 on Flexible; middle school is AED 160 or AED 180. VAT at 5% is included in every figure shown, and a lesson taught at your home is AED 30 more. Primary and premium rates sit on the pricing page.

    My child understands chemistry but loses marks in exams. What is going on?

    In chemistry that pattern almost always points at the calculating half. Either the mole work is slow, so the arithmetic questions eat the clock, or the marks are going on convention: units, significant figures, unbalanced equations, working that was done in the head and never written down. A mentor can tell which within a couple of lessons by sitting your child in front of a past paper rather than talking about it.

    Do you cover the practical and alternative-to-practical papers?

    Yes. Experimental skill is examined in writing by every British board and by the IB, and the same question types come round: choice of apparatus, sources of error, uncertainty, anomalous results, how the method could be improved. We work past practical papers against the official mark scheme, which is the only way to see how narrowly they are marked.

    Are lessons online or in person?

    Either. We teach face to face throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi and online anywhere in the country. Chemistry takes to a screen well: mechanisms and calculations are written out on a shared board, and the whole lesson can be saved and looked at again.
