Economics tutoring

Economics students rarely lose marks on knowledge. They lose them on evaluation.

IGCSE Economics, AS and A-Level Economics, IB Economics at Higher and Standard Level, AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics, Canadian senior electives and SABIS Economics. Taught by university mentors who sat these specifications a few years ago, online across the UAE or in your home in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Why it works

What makes the difference

  • 01

Evaluation is where the top grades are

A student who defines the term, draws the diagram and explains the chain of reasoning has earned most of the marks and stopped just before the rest. Judgement, weighing, and saying what it depends on is the part schools have least time to teach, and it is worth several grades.

  • 02

The diagram is an argument, not decoration

Examiners pay for a correctly labelled diagram that is then used in the answer. Most students draw it and never refer to it again. Drilling the habit of writing from the diagram changes essay marks quickly.

  • 03

Local examples make a paper concrete

Economics answers improve when the example is real and specific rather than generic. Students in the UAE have obvious material to hand, and a mentor helps them use it in a way the mark scheme rewards rather than dropping in a fact for its own sake.

Inside the subject

The four parts of an economics paper

Microeconomics

Markets, elasticity, market failure, costs and market structures. This is the half that carries the diagrams, and it is where accurate labelling turns a competent answer into a strong one.

The weighting changes between boards, the skills do not. A mentor works out which of the four is costing marks and teaches that one against your child's own specification.

How it works

From first message to a first economics lesson in days

  1. 01

    Tell us the course

The syllabus and the board are enough: IGCSE Economics with Cambridge, A-Level Economics with Edexcel, IB Economics HL, AP Macroeconomics or a SABIS Level. Two minutes is all it takes.

  2. 02

    Meet your mentor

The mentor is chosen for having sat that specification and scored highly on it. A first lesson is arranged next, online or in your home in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

  3. 03

    Watch the essays gain marks

We fit around school hours and mock weeks, a progress note goes to the parent after every session, and rematching is free if the mentor is not right.

FAQ

Economics tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, answered

  • 01

How much does an economics tutor cost?

Level sets the price, not the subject. A high school hour is AED 180 on the Commitment plan or AED 200 Flexible; a middle school hour is AED 160 or AED 180. VAT at 5% is inside those numbers. Choose a lesson at home and add AED 30. Primary and premium rates are on the pricing page.

  • 02

Which economics courses do you cover?

IGCSE Economics, AS and A-Level Economics, IB Economics at HL and SL, AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics, the Canadian senior elective and SABIS Economics at every Level. All of them are named on our services page.

  • 03

What is the difference between economics and business studies?

Economics asks how markets and whole economies behave and is examined largely through diagrams and argument. Business studies asks how a single firm is run and is examined largely through case studies, finance and decision making. Many students take both, and they reward different exam habits. We have a page for business studies as well.

  • 04

My child understands the content but scores in the middle. Why?

In economics this almost always means evaluation. Marks at the top of the scheme go to weighing an argument, considering the other side and saying what the conclusion depends on. It is a writing habit rather than extra content, and it responds quickly to being taught explicitly and practised against the mark scheme.

  • 05

Do you help with the IB Internal Assessment commentaries?

Yes, with choosing an article, planning, structure, feedback and redrafting, worked backwards from the deadline. Mentors coach the student's own work; they do not write anything that will be submitted as the student's own.

  • 06

Are lessons online or in person?

Both. Mentors teach in homes across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and online in every emirate. Economics suits the screen well, because diagrams and essay plans are drawn on a shared board and the session can be saved.
