Canadian schools in the UAE most often follow the Ontario or Alberta curriculum, and the two set different courses, different weighting and different terms for what looks like the same subject. We find out which one your school follows first, then match a mentor who knows that specific course, not a general programme that happens to be close.

Report cards move by grade, but the actual work moves by course: Functions, then Advanced Functions, then Calculus and Vectors, each with its own expectations and its own pace. A mentor is matched to the course your child is sitting this term, so the lessons follow the unit your teacher is on, not a generic Grade 11 or Grade 12 outline.

After every lesson you receive a short note on what was covered, what improved and what to watch next. A provincial report card arrives only a few times a year. Grade 9 to 12
Built around the course, not just the grade
Mathematics
Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and the college or university stream your school sets, whichever province's curriculum it follows. We match on the exact course, not just the grade.
Sciences
Physics, Chemistry and Biology through to Grade 12, plus general Science in the earlier grades. Lessons follow the unit your school is teaching that week, so nothing runs ahead of or behind the classroom.
English
English through every grade, since it runs each year to graduation: essay writing, literary analysis and the assessment style your school uses, built around the texts actually on your child's course.
Social Sciences
Canadian and World Studies, History, Geography, Economics and Business, across the options your school offers. A mentor is matched to the specific course, not a general humanities subject.

Dubai
Mentors travel to homes in Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, Emirates Hills, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills, Motor City, Downtown, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, JVC, Mirdif and Deira. They move online when the drive becomes the problem. Dubai has no Canadian curriculum school of its own: the last one, in Mirdif, closed at the end of June 2019. A family here is usually earning Ontario credits online, or finishing a Canadian year after a move, and both go better with a mentor who knows the course list.

Abu Dhabi
Mentors travel to homes on Saadiyat Island, Al Reem Island, Yas Island, Al Raha, Khalifa City, Al Bateen, Al Mushrif, Al Nahyan, Mussafah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City. Mentors are matched on where you live as well as what your child studies. The Canadian schools are here rather than in Dubai, and they do not all follow the same province: Canadian International School in Khalifa City A and Maplewood Canadian International School both teach Alberta, while Abu Dhabi Grammar School (Canada) is certified by Nova Scotia.
Lessons run in person in both cities, or online anywhere in the UAE.

Alberta and Ontario
Two provinces, two different qualifications

Alberta ends in twelve exams
Twelve Grade 12 courses at the 30 level carry a provincial diploma exam, and it is worth 30% of the final mark, back at 30% since 1 September 2023, with schoolwork carrying the other 70%. They are written five times a year, in November, January, April, June and August, so one weak sitting is a checkpoint rather than the end of the story. Alberta publishes the current dates, and they do move.

The stream is part of the course
Mathematics 30-1 and Mathematics 30-2 are not one course at two levels of effort. They are separate courses with separate diploma exams, and the same goes for English Language Arts 30-1 and 30-2. The stream is settled a year before anyone applies to university, and it is what decides which degrees stay open, so a mentor is matched to the stream and not just to the subject.

Ontario changed its rule book in 2024
An Ontario diploma is 30 credits either way, but the split moved. A student who started Grade 9 in 2023 or earlier needs 18 compulsory and 12 optional. A student who started in 2024 or later needs 17 compulsory and 13 optional, with a technological education credit added. A student who started Grade 9 in 2025 or later also has to score at least 70% on the financial literacy part of Grade 10 Career Studies. Anyone who started Grade 9 in 2020 or later also needs two online learning credits, on top of the literacy test and 40 hours of community involvement.

How much does a Canadian curriculum tutor cost in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Grade 9 to 12 is high school level: AED 180 per hour at the Commitment rate, or AED 200 Flexible. Every price includes 5% VAT, and an in-person lesson adds AED 40. Full details, including 6-hour packages, are on our pricing page.

Is there a Canadian curriculum school in Dubai?
No. The last one, in Mirdif, closed at the end of June 2019, so the country's Canadian schools are all in Abu Dhabi. Dubai families on this curriculum are usually earning Ontario credits online while living here, and we teach those courses the same way we teach a classroom one.

Do you follow the Ontario curriculum, the Alberta curriculum, or both?
Both, and others too. Tell us which province your school follows and we match a mentor to that course list, not a generic North American syllabus that happens to be close.

Are lessons online or in person?
Both. We teach in person across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and online anywhere in the UAE. Many families mix the two, in-person weekly with extra online sessions before a test or a deadline.

Top university students and recent graduates from universities including AUS, AUD, CUD and NYUAD. They studied similar courses a few years ago and did well in the subjects they now teach.
