Computer science
Most of the marks in computer science are on a written paper. Not on a screen.
IGCSE and O Level Computer Science, AS and A-Level Computer Science, IB Computer Science at HL and SL, AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A, Canadian computer studies and programming, and SABIS Computer Science. Taught by university mentors who sat the same papers a few years ago.

What makes the difference
- 01
Coding well and scoring well are not the same skill
Students who build things in their own time often lose marks because the exam wants pseudocode, a trace table or a described algorithm in a fixed notation. Learning the board's notation is a small job that changes the grade out of proportion to the effort.
- 02
The theory paper is where most marks are lost
Binary, data representation, networks, architecture, security and databases carry a large share of the paper and get the least practice, because they are the least fun part of the course. They are also completely learnable.
- 03
The coursework project needs a plan, not a burst
The A-Level project and the IB Internal Assessment reward documented design, testing and evaluation as much as working code. Planned from the deadline backwards, it stops competing with revision. Mentors coach the student's own project and do not write it.
Inside the subject
The four parts of a computer science course
Programming and problem solving
Writing, reading and correcting code, plus the pseudocode and trace tables the written paper actually asks for. Python, Java and the board's own reference language, depending on what a school teaches.
Algorithms and data structures
Searching, sorting, arrays, stacks, queues, trees and the complexity questions A-Level and IB HL both set. Understood as a small set of patterns rather than as code to memorise.
Computer systems and architecture
Binary and hexadecimal, data representation, logic gates, the processor and memory. Dry to revise alone, quick to fix with a mentor, and worth a lot of marks.
Databases, networks and security
Relational databases and SQL, network topologies and protocols, and the security and ethics topics every board now examines in extended written answers.
The balance between them changes by board and level, but every syllabus has all four. A mentor works out which one is costing marks and starts there.

IGCSE and O Level Computer Science
Cambridge, Edexcel and Oxford AQA, covering the theory paper and the programming paper on your child's own board's past papers and mark schemes.
A-LevelAS and A-Level Computer Science
Both years including the programming project, with documented design, testing and evaluation planned backwards from the deadline.
IBIB Computer Science, HL and SL
The full course at either level, with the Internal Assessment planned from its deadline back rather than built in the final fortnight.
APAP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A
Two distinct courses: Principles is broader and includes a performance task, A is a Java programming course. Taught alongside the school class.
CanadianComputer studies and programming
The senior elective computer studies and programming courses, built course by course and matched to the province your school follows.
SABISSABIS Computer Science, every Level
Computer science to the SABIS calendar, weekly AMS tests first and periodic exams after, with mentors who learned that way themselves.

Meet your mentor
We find a mentor who sat that specification, in that language, and scored highly in it, then arrange the first lesson online or in your home.

Watch the written paper improve
Lessons fit the school timetable and the mock weeks, every session is followed by a progress note home, and we rematch free if the fit is wrong.
FAQ
Computer science tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, answered
- 01
How much does a computer science tutor cost?
Subject makes no difference to the price; school level does. High school is AED 180 an hour on the Commitment plan, AED 200 on Flexible. Middle school is AED 160 or AED 180. VAT at 5% is already in the figure you see, and a lesson at your home adds AED 30. Everything else is on the pricing page.
- 02
Which computer science courses do you cover?
IGCSE and O Level Computer Science, AS and A-Level Computer Science, IB Computer Science at HL and SL, AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A, Canadian computer studies and programming, and SABIS Computer Science at every Level. All of them are named on our services page.
- 03
What is the difference between AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A?
They are two separate courses and many families assume they are levels of one. Principles is the broader introduction and includes a performance task submitted during the year. Computer Science A is a Java programming course examined at the end. A school may offer either or both, and the preparation for them is not interchangeable.
- 04
My child codes well but the grade is average. What is wrong?
Usually nothing about their coding. The written paper wants pseudocode in the board's notation, trace tables, and theory topics like binary, networks and databases that self-taught programmers rarely touch. A mentor who sat the paper can close that gap quickly, because it is a small and well-defined body of work.
- 05
Can you help with the programming project or Internal Assessment?
Yes, with scoping, design documentation, testing and evaluation, planned backwards from the deadline. Mentors coach and review the student's own project. They do not write code that will be submitted as the student's own work.
- 06
Are lessons online or in person?
Both. In-person lessons cover Dubai and Abu Dhabi, online lessons cover the UAE. Computer science fits a screen naturally, because code and its output are shared live and the session can be saved.
