French tutoring
Core French, French B and IGCSE French share a name. They are three different courses.
IGCSE French, IB French B, the French track in American-curriculum schools, Canadian Core French and SABIS French. University mentors who took these courses themselves, teaching at home in Dubai and Abu Dhabi or online anywhere in the UAE.

What makes the difference
- 01
Speaking is examined, and it is rarely practised
Every French course a UAE school runs assesses speaking, and it is the part a class of twenty-five cannot rehearse properly. A one-to-one lesson is where a student actually talks for an hour, and that is usually where the fastest improvement shows.
- 02
Verbs are the whole grammar, and they are learnable
Most marks lost in written French come from a handful of tense and agreement errors repeated across the paper. Fixing that is a matter of drilling patterns rather than covering more topics, and it improves reading and listening at the same time.
- 03
Vocabulary in useful groups, not in lists
Boards set the same themes year after year. Learning words in the groups the exam uses, and then using them in a sentence in the lesson, sticks in a way that a printed list does not.
Inside the subject
The four skills every French course examines
Speaking
The role play, the photo card and the general conversation, rehearsed under exam conditions with a mentor who sat the same assessment. This is the skill that a school timetable has least room for.
Listening
Working with native-speed audio, learning to catch the answer rather than every word, and the practice under timed conditions that makes the real recording feel slower.
Reading and writing
Comprehension, translation and the extended writing task, with a structure that earns the marks for range and accuracy rather than length.
Grammar and tenses
Verb tables, agreement, pronouns and the tense choices that written work is graded on. Taught as patterns to be used rather than tables to be memorised.
Every board weighs these four differently, and most students are much weaker at one of them than at the other three. A mentor finds out which, and spends the time there.
Across the curricula
French on the syllabuses Durusi teaches
IGCSE French
Cambridge, Edexcel and Oxford AQA, taught on your child's own board's past papers and mark schemes, with the speaking assessment rehearsed properly.
IBIB French B
French as an additional language at Higher or Standard Level, alongside the Internal Assessment and the rest of the Diploma core.
AmericanThe French school track
The world languages French course American-curriculum schools run alongside Common Core, supported across the year rather than before finals.
CanadianCore French
The Core French a Canadian-curriculum school teaches beside its provincial programme, built course by course rather than year by year.
SABISSABIS French, every Level
French to the SABIS calendar, the weekly AMS test and the periodic exams that follow, with mentors who know the pace from the inside.
AS and A-Level French is not on the list above, because our services page does not name it among the AS and A-Level subjects we teach. If that is what your child needs, ask us anyway: with 150+ mentors we may well cover it, and if we do not we will say so plainly rather than take the booking.
In Abu Dhabi: IGCSE · IB · SABIS. The full list of what we teach is on services.
How it works
From first message to a first French lesson in days
-
01
Tell us the course
The course name and the year group are enough: IGCSE French with Edexcel, IB French B SL, Grade 10 Core French or a SABIS Level. Two minutes on WhatsApp or the contact form.
-
02
Meet your mentor
We pair your child with a mentor who took the same course and scored highly on it, then book a first lesson, online or in your home in either city.
-
03
Watch the speaking loosen
Lessons are arranged around school and mock weeks, each one is followed by a progress note for the parent, and a mentor who does not suit is swapped at no charge.
FAQ
French tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, answered
- 01
Which French courses do you cover?
IGCSE French, IB French B, the French track in American-curriculum schools, Canadian Core French and SABIS French. Those are the ones named on our services page. We do not list AS and A-Level French, so ask before you assume it, and we will tell you honestly whether we have a mentor for it.
- 02
How much does a French tutor cost?
One rate per school level, whatever the subject. On the Commitment plan that is AED 140 an hour at primary, AED 160 at middle school and AED 180 at high school; on Flexible each of those rises by AED 20. Both plans include VAT at 5%, and lessons at your home add AED 30. Our pricing page shows every level.
- 03
Can you help with the speaking assessment?
Yes, and it is one of the best reasons to book a one-to-one lesson. The role play, the photo card and the general conversation all follow a predictable shape, and a mentor who sat the same assessment can rehearse it under exam conditions in a way that a classroom cannot.
- 04
My child is a beginner. Is that a problem?
No. Lessons start from where a student actually is rather than from the year group, which is exactly what a class cannot do. Tell us the school and the course and we will be honest about what is achievable before the next assessment.
- 05
Do mentors speak French fluently?
We match a mentor who studied French to at least the level your child is working at and scored highly in it. If your child needs a native speaker or a French-curriculum school specialist, say so in the first message so we can tell you straight away whether we can do it.
- 06
Are lessons online or in person?
Both. In-person teaching covers Dubai and Abu Dhabi, online teaching covers the UAE. Speaking practice works well on a call, and many families keep one lesson at home each week and add online sessions before the assessments.
In numbers
